What to do if a drain is blocked

Blockages inside your boundary are yours; the sewer in the street is ours. Wipes and fat cause most of them.

If one sink or toilet is slow, the blockage is probably in your own pipework and a plunger or a drain rod will usually clear it. If every drain in the house is slow at once, or a manhole outside is full, the blockage is likely in the shared sewer and that is our job.

Call us on 0808 157 0123 and we will come out. If sewage has entered a building, we treat it as an emergency and aim to be with you within two hours. Do not try to clear it yourself.

Almost every blockage we clear is wipes, cooking fat or cotton buds. Only the three Ps belong down a toilet — pee, poo and paper. Let fat cool, and put it in the bin.
