What you pay for, how to pay it, and what we can do if paying is difficult. Nobody is cut off for not paying a water bill.
Your bill covers two services: the clean water we bring to your tap, and the wastewater we take away and treat. If you have a meter you pay for what you use. If you do not, you pay a fixed charge based on the rateable value of your property.
The average metered household in the catchment paid £412 last year, or about £1.13 a day. Our charges are set for five years at a time and published each February.
You can ask for a meter free of charge, and if your bill goes up in the first two years you can switch back. Households with a large family or a medical need that uses a lot of water can apply for a capped tariff.
Tell us early. We would much rather agree a smaller payment than chase a large one, and we will never disconnect a household for debt.
We can spread your bill across twelve months, move your payment date, pause payments for a short period, or put you on a reduced tariff if your household income is below £21,000. Our hardship fund can also clear part of an arrears balance for customers who keep to a plan.
Call 0306 999 0123, Monday to Friday, 08:00 to 18:00. The conversation is confidential, it does not affect your credit file, and you can bring a friend, relative or adviser onto the call with you.
The register is our list of customers who need a little more from us. It is free, it takes about five minutes to join, and you can come off it at any time.
You can join if you rely on water for dialysis or other medical equipment, have a disability or long-term illness, are over 65, are pregnant or have children under five, or find English difficult to read. You can also join on behalf of someone you care for.
Being on the register means we deliver bottled water to your door during an interruption, warn you before planned work, agree a password so you know our staff are genuine, and send your bill in large print, braille, easy read or audio.
